Kevsta Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Afternoon! Went for a blat sunday morning...car started hassle free (having sat for 3 wet weeks!) and then I noticed the alternator belt squeek. But it went away. I was on my way out and didn't have time to start taking everything apart so I ventured out. Ran fine, no probs. Got back home and thought I'd take a look and saw the belt was a little loose. Then I saw that the lower bolt that holds the tensioner bracket on had sheered and dropped the spacer out! Luckily none of it had caught the belts! So does anyone have a spare? Could do without a trip to the local scrapper and they are not very nice people up there!
John Vine Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 What engine are we talking about? If it's a K, I don't have a spare, I'm afraid, but exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. In my case, the bolt sheared off in the block, but amazingly the spacer lodged itself on top of the alternator. Some nifty work by the guys at the factory sorted it all out -- and all this on the morning of the L7C t/d at Brands! JV
Kevsta Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Ah yes, I often forget vital info like that hoping for people's powers of telepathy! It is in a K. 1.8 VVC EU2 but I am fairly certain they are all the same. Kev
