With only 2 weeks to go to the RR mapping session I really need to get the new 2.3 Duratec and new Emerald up and running in the next couple of days. I've got the Emerald wiring loom in and all the sensors attached but can't figure the wiring at the ECU end - not helped by the fact there doesn't seem to be a wiring diagram in the user guide *confused*

So when I removed the old Webber Alpha ECU and loom I marked up 2 wires under the dash as follows:

1 - Switched +ve for ECU supply

2 - Tacho ECU supply

I also have a black wire next to the battery with a bullet connector on it and I've marked it 'Fuel Pump -ve from ECU?' so obviously I wasn't sure what it was when I disconnected it 3 months ago!

Also there's a round connector comming off the main ECU end of the loom which has 7 wires comming off it (green, yellow, white, purple, red, red and orange - without any connectors fitted) and I have no idea what they're for *confused*

And finally I have a connector call BARO which I assume is for at atmospheric pressure sensor which I don't need?

Ideally I'd like to be able to compare my wiring with another Emerald & Duratec car - CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE 🤔 🤔 *smile*

There should be a listy of which ECU pin does what in the manual.

If there is a specific query drop me an email or send a digi pic of the wire in question.

When I got my chassis I ripped the wiring out, removed all the unnecessary stuff and rewired it to suit the duratec and the emerald. It's all a bit fuzzy now so I'd need to go and look up my wiring lists etc to work out what goes where.

Mike, I fitted an Emerald to mine over last winter and it was pretty straightforward so long as you know the pin connections into the chassis loom. You can take a look at mine but to be honest there isn't much to see without pulling the loom apart IYSWIM.

I believe I still have the pin connection details for the chassis loom somewhere which Peter gave me when I built the car if that is any help.

Rob,

Yes Emerald supplied the full 8 injector loom

Problem is I have all the Emerald manuals (I checked the downloads on the Emerald site and there's no more info on there) - it explains what the 36 pins do but I don't know where the 7 wires above relate to those pins - for example there are numerous yellow wires on the 36 pin plug so which one is the yellow one mentioned above?!?!?

Would appreciate it if I could take a look at your car, well the best I can as I appreciate you don't wont to disassemble it for me 😬

oh BTW I don't seem to be recieving blatmail again so if you have any info please email to

Ok Mike just found what I think you are looking for. The wires from the round plug are as follows:-

Pin 1 - Purple = +12v ignition switched

Pin 2 - White = Fuel pump

Pin 3 - Green = Tacho

Pin 4 - Yellow = Shift light

Pin 5 - Orange = Rad fan relay drive

Pin 6 - Red = +12v Pump relay }

Pin 7 - Red = +12v to Ignition relay } - To purple on car loom

Hope that helps but I am in tomorrow night so give me a call on 07778-459663 if you would like to nip round for a look. I also have, somewhere, Peters diagram he gave showing the equivalent pins to connect the above to the actual chassis loom. I'll be having a look for it before you come round. *thumbup*

I understand the current generation of Emerald ECU has an internal barometer so the external connection is now redundant (well it is on mine). The black wire with the bullet connector should be an earth connection but better check for ground continuity with a voltmeter. Your switched '+ve to ecu' and 'tacho to ecu' are self explanatory although on my car, both these wires end up in a multi connector attached to the main chassis loom and which is found by the diagonal tube just in front of the passenger footwell.

So, on my car pins 1, 2 & 3 from the round plug on the Emerald loom all connect into this multi-plug and pins 6 & 7 both connect to a largeish purple wire which also exits from the main chassis loom in the same area. Pins 4 & 5 are redundant on mine.

Hopefully, that will give you all the info you need to get it going. *thumbup*
