gwiddicombe Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Here is a page with some J-Hose Pics. Stupid question time, I haven't taken the hoses out of their bags yet, but is this general position correct for the small and large J-Hoses on the 1.6 K-Series? The reason I'm asking is that the build manual is conusing on this point. It talks about the large J-hose should be fitted to the black thermostat housing located on the RH side of the engine block. I believe I have this in the correct position, but the small J-hose doesn't look right to me. The manual for the small J-hose says that the hose should be facing horizontally rearwards, which I wouldn't say that this is. To me, rearwards would mean back towards where the gearbox would be attached. Also, whilst I'm at it I cannot see the brown lead from the alternator. Where would this be. Please don't tell me it will be on the alternator.... My Caterham Build Diary available here Edited by - gwiddicombe on 25 Aug 2007 16:55:58
F355GTS Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Turn the Engine round! as in both the pipes fit on the otherside of the Engine, the large one ends up facing forwards, the small one outwards then to the rear of the Engine Mark
CageyH Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 The one on the left in your picture, is the one that fits to the thermostat housing (on the other side of the engine) and points towards the front of the car when the engine is installed. You have them both on the water rail... Only dead fish go with the flow....!
gwiddicombe Posted August 25, 2007 Author Posted August 25, 2007 Was that the stupidist question that has ever been asked on here then? 😳 Sorry for that, was getting my rears, fronts, lefts and rights all mixed up. Thanks for the info G My Caterham Build Diary available here
CageyH Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 No. I doubt it was the most stupid question ever asked. Only dead fish go with the flow....!
