Bricol Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I'm after a standard, good nick, with valves, 1300 crossflow head. Maybe a standard shopping 1600 (as opposed to the GT) head as I believe these had smaller valves too. Also after a standard cam - from a 1600 if they are any different to the 1100 and 1300. See my crossflow "For sale" ad if you want to tune up and want to deal . . Bri

Molecular--Bob Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I may have what you want. Bought it as a head to use as an exchange unit for a Vulcan maxiflo, so that i could keep driving until the new one was done, but then decided that i would go zetec when the time came, so surplus to my needs. Have no idea as to spec. but it was sold to me as stock 1600 in good condition. Cant comment on whether this is true as apart from unwrapping it once it has sat in oily bubble wrap for a year and a half. Ports looked stock and not worked. Do you have any idea what casting marks etc. would mark it out as being what you need? I'm in Sheffield if you do want the head, but dont want to get into posting etc, so would be free on collection, or swap for the inlet manifoldplus cash? Molecular--Bob Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I was assuming the manifold is Caterham. If this is not the case then please ignore the swap aspect. You are still welcome to the head if its what you want. Ian Brock
ncm Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 There is a casting mark around the area of the valve springs that identifies the head. 1300 is marked 33 , 1600 is 37. According to Mr Haynes the mk11 escort 1600 used larger valves than the 1300.....the 1600 mk11 cortina engine apparently used the same size valves as the 1300 escort(haynes again) but you may find that the early head has a small combustion chamber. Why do you need the smaller valves? Cheers, Brian.
Molecular--Bob Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi Brian I have the valve sizes (Approx), inlets 37-38mm, exhausts 27-28mm, which i think makes it a 1300. Should be able to take pics on Saturday if you need them.
