Simon C Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Hi, has anyone experience of a standard R500, de-catted, at Bedford as I understand that there may be noise issues on drive by and/or static. The limit is 101db drive by and 87.5db static - any ideas whether this is likely to be a problem. Cheers Simon
Mark Durrant Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Simon Sorry to disappoint but without an airbox and a large silencer you have no chance Mark D Comp Sec
henry21p Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 as long as you keep it to 3500rpm and very light throttle you'll be ok 😬
Irrelevant Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 87.5db static can't be right . .. The only way you'd get that is with the engine turned off 😬
Simon C Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 Mark, are you 100% certain - have you had the same problem there? I may be able to sell the day if there really is no chance..... Cheers Simon
fatcat Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Mine did Bedford fine with a full Reverie (cf) airbox kit and a large Raceco titanium silencer. Neither were cheap but both well worth it - good quality kit and I could do any trackday.
DSL Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 R400 with carbon airbox & large Caterham silencer was no probs there a couple of years ago
Ray Gamma Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I think you've got the static and drive by limits the wrong way around - here -still going to be tough to pass an R500 at Bedford
Mark Durrant Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Simon Do a search on Chitchat there are plenty of people who have failed the noise tests at Bedford, Donington and Goodwood to name a few. I have an R500 and although I have a nice Raceco silencer I do not yet have an airbox and induction noise on an R500 at full chat is very noisey. Anyway there are far better circuits than Bedford to stretch the legs of your R500 such as Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Brands GP Mark D Comp Sec
Slipper man Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Sorry Simon, but there is indeed no chance of an R500 being allowed without an airbox and quiet silencer.
Graham Perry Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Simon, agree with Mark. The archive has plenty of stories of folks who have had trouble at Bedford, often in relatively standard sevens. I have never bothered even trying as I know that my crossflow wouldn't get near their standards even with its new airbox
Simon C Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Thanks for the advice, will being taking something else afterall! Shame though as I was really looking forward to seeing how it went for the first time. Cheers Simon
