SV Gary Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I have just managed to get a 'bullet hole' in the windscreen of my SV ☹️ Any ideas where i can get a new windscreen from 🤔 Can I just get the glass or do I need to get the glass and frame 🤔 The lead dog always gets the best view.
neil.cavanagh Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 have you tried caterham yet? I got my new screen from them... the racers can buy plain glass screen only for whipper (S3) cars that you fit into the frame yourself. Significantly cheaper than full screen, but I'm not sure if CC offer this for proper sized SeVens.
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 How big a hole ? I had one right in front of my eyes when sitting in the drivers seat. It was 12mm across, and a real star-shaped break. Got a completely invisible repair done on it. Repairer took an hour to build up the vacuum before releasing the resin - which fills the cavity completely ('as it is such a nice car'). They normally do this in about 15 minutes ! It is a national company (not Autoglass). No excess for repairs on my insurance policy. Blatmail me if you want details. ****************** And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking... And racing around to come up behind you again. new link to photos

SV Gary Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 GlasWeld have been and repaired the windscreen - most of the £1 coin sized 'bullet hole' has dissapeared, fitter has guaranteed that it will get through MOT or £35 costs refunded. - Job Done
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Excellent news Costs ?? Didn't insurance foot the bill ? Repairs normally FOC on comprehensive policy. ****************** And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking... SV Gary Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 I took the 3 track day cover as opposed to the windscreen option when I took out my Caterham Insurance - I will know better next time ❗ The lead dog always gets the best view.
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Oh well. Still a satisfied customer though - repair cost better than new screen ! ****************** And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking...
