RWHomer Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 CSR and SV female half hinge attached to the windscreen frame are die-cast alloy rather than the nylon hinges fitted to other models. The male hinge pin is stainless and the combination is leading to quite sudden seizing of the hinge after a shortish period of inactivity and fracture of the female half. Just annoying - especially when CC out of stock of this version. Just needs lubricating - something we never had to do with the nylon version. CSR260 Hillclimber
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Thanks for the warning. Good old CopaSlip or silicone grease ? Another bit to soil our clothing (along with splined shaft on QR steering column !) ****************** And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking... And racing around to come up behind you again. new link to photos Edited by - Stationary M25 Traveller on 16 Aug 2007 11:36:05
nickh7 Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Use Mr Sheen as the high silicone content will keep it slippy without the risk of grease everywhere Nick h

neil.cavanagh Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 ummm. my '03 SV had metal pins. Never had an issue with them seizing and I've never lubed them either. Sounds like either i've been lucky, or you've been unlucky... The car is used in all weather and often sits outside over night when on tour/away for work.
