DMT Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 My rear CR322's are almost out of leagal tread. The question is 'how much time is lost to having new tyres in the dry round cadwell vs scrubbed ones' - I can't afford another set of rims to have both new and used tyres for wet and dry races. If anyone has some some Cr322's that they don't want on or off rims please let me know.
Lotus Boy Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Worn out CR322's...well done . From what others have said about these tyres, it was deemed near impossible. Can't answer your question specifically but would Yoko A021's not be the way to go? I believe these are/were for Formula Ford wet tyres and still offer great amounts of grip in the dry and other great thing about them is that they are cheap. ...or do you need a specific control tyre? Dave
Trevor Newman Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I managed just fine on new tyres when others were on supposed optimal part worns
Tom_C Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I've got some 7000 mile old CR322s coming off my rims this week. They're a bit scrubbed but still have 5-6mm tread. You're welcome to them for £50, and I'll sling some of it to NtL. BTW please give generously to Bundle's Big Charity Walk for Asthma research here Ta. Cheers Tom FH54WLX see here - UPDATED again
DMT Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Thanks for the replies. Lotus boy - I'm doing the Academy so I have to use CR322's Trevor - Are you not a renound genious and would have been ok with anything as long as they were roundish... Tom - Thank you for the offer but I will decline as you are far away and will just get some new ones. I guess I'm worring to much. With my lack of experience it should easy to improve my times thinking about the racing line and Jonnie Walker (series leader) But now I've stepped on the lowest step on the podium I just want to move up and want make sure I'm not comprimised by something like my tyres - well time will tell. David
Graeme Smith Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 "Almost out of legal tread" - well, they'll be perfect for racing then (less tread, equals less tread movement and therefore will overheat less). Unless they have gone all hard. Of course, if it rains, you're ****ed.
