I have recently fitted an apollo - well Nifty did it and i watched *smile* and i would now like to be able to get the oil temperature. I understand that this can be achieved by means of having a switch to flick between oil and water on the same gauge. i have bought a switch and am feeling brave so want to try to fit it.

Is it just a case of attaching the yellow and black wire to the oil temp sender int he apollo and also to one side of the switch, with the water temp lead to the other?

Any advice or instruction would be gratefully received.

thanks

I have just done this and it is quite easy (although I had the scuttle off at the time to make access easier). The signal wire to the gauge needs to be cut, connect the gauge side to the centre tag on the switch and the other end to one of the side tags (I think I had to lengthen it a little). Next you need to find (or add) a wire to connect the apollo sensor to the switch - as Caterham recommended the black/yellow I tried this but it didn't work. I continuity checked this wire and the two ends were not connected. I traced the wire from the engine side back to the big grey multi connector strapped to the intake side of the engine bay but the corresponding pin on the other half of the plug had no pin in it! God knows where the black/yellow behind the dashboard goes *confused* In the end I used the wire from the oil pressure sender instead (redundant in mine as I have a mechanical gauge now).

any offers which wire is the signal wire?

Into the back of the temp gauge there is;

Green & blue wire

green wire x2

black wire

i am guessing the black or green & blue *confused*

I'd say so Matt, but only going by the wiring standard - black should be earth and green has always been ignition switched power (on my car at least!)

All the best,

Darren
