hi all

when i changed engine from 1.4 to1.6k i simply wrote on the log book the change of cc and sent it off

dvla wrote back requiring engine number proof ie bill of receipt or to get it inspected

bought the engine from blatchat without receipt which is fair enough

how have others got over this?

also can caterham supply me with a new vin plate with the new engine number on?

cheers

When I changed my engine last year I just wrote the new number and capacity on the v5 and sent it off - DVLA accepted that and didn't ask any questions and I certainly didn't provide a copy of the receipt.

I think it just depends who picks your letter up at the DVLA. Some are more conscientious than others, Monday morning or Friday afternoon type of thing.

Can you contact the engine seller and get a receipt, or ask him if it's ok for you to make one up. When you send in the new number, they can trace it to the last owner they have on record.

Cheers John
