stevethemook
Hi Doing a 12,000 mile service tomorrow in my 1.8K series and am going to use some Mobil 1 5w-40 Essence (Formule Longevite ) ,100% Syntheses oil that I bought in November last year in Calais. After trawling through the masses of info on the forum Im a bit lost and wonder if it is ok.. I have no plans to race (this year anyway) but am going on a 2000 mile+ trip around Europe in 2 weeks. Sump foam change being done as well.. Thanks v much Stevey Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
mav
Steve, It should be fine - if as you say its 5w/40 and fully synth. There will be a million people with a million opinions,m but so long as it meets the requirements in the handbook / on the chassis plate it should be ok. Just MY opinion of course
Peter Carmichael
It is absolutely fine (very good in fact). The most useful bit of labelling on it apart from the 5W40 rating is that it carries an ACEA A3 rating. For future purchasing, any SAE 40 viscosity ACEA A3 oil is a very good choice for a K-series.
