Irrelevant
1. Hazard Warning Lights . . . I just want to make the indicators flash in the simplest manner possible so can someone point me in the direction of a generic diagram for doing these please? BTW, my wiring's all bespoke so there's no point in referring to Rover/Caterham spaghetti, I mean wiring 2. Independent flash of headlights with lights turned off . . . Anyone know if this is needed for an MOT? TIA Edited by - adamhay on 18 Jul 2007 14:03:
Irrelevant
Not quick enough . . . where is everyone today? Just found the answer to question 1 myself - you just use a DPST switch off a live flasher Simple
andy_h
Hazard flasher is required for MOT. I had to wire one in myself (changed relay for flashing type and wired in new switch to it). When you buy a relay is should have a wiring diagram. White road legal 2.0 HPC VX race car 😬
Irrelevant
Ta andy_h . .. I should have made it clearer . . .I meant headlight flash, not hazard flash 😳 I'll fix it...
andy_h
I don't have headlight flasher other than turning light switch on and off. Flasher not needed for MOT at my garage . White road legal 2.0 HPC VX race car 😬

Big Brother
(Main beam) flasher definately not required for MOT. As long as main beam operates that's all they look for. (they also get the manual out with my car as I don't have hazard lights or rear fog lights fitted 😬) Steve SE7EN-UP! Ever noticed that the word enviromentalist contains the word mentalist! Irrelevant
Oh right . .. . hazards and fogs not required then? That for any car without them fitted or a date based thing. Spose I could just check the online MOT manual myself 😳
Big Brother
No hazard lights, fog lights and indicator repeaters are a few of the benefits of owning a 28 year old 7 😬 Steve SE7EN-UP! Peter Carmichael
Adam, I've got a re-wiring solution for all of the lighting requirements, just implemented on my car. It is modular and neat and gets rid of 'orrible switches on the dash. I'll bring it along to the Surrey meet tomorrow.

andy_h
If it's not a Historic vehicle, you need hazard flasher and fog light MOT. I had to fit hazard even through my car (built 1994 and road legal at that time) did have it. My fog light is central (used as rain light during it's racing days 🤔) and they failed it the first time I had the car MOT'd as they said it should be off to one side. I pointed out that Mazda Mx5 are central and they agreed and let it go. I also had to fit a rear number plate lights (don't have rear wheel carrier). Just for MOT I velcro it on and temp. wire it into the fuel pump wiring. Remove again when I get home 😬 White road legal 2.0 HPC VX race car 😬
