dickbowyer
Where is the best place to put the oil temperature sender for a SPA OT/OP gauge in a Duratec engine? Dick 100 dB Superlight SV Duratec R400
Gasmaninaseven
Dick, I've had some communication with Raceline regarding putting the Stack sender in the the large blanked off hole in the sump (on the passenger side). Still waiting for a reply. Bit unimpressed that CC don't see this as a basic feature of the car Cheers, Neil IN BUILD: Guantanamo Bay Orange SUPERLIGHT R400...... dickbowyer
The "Caterham" oil filter adaptor plate on their Duratec is a Raceline version which incorporates 2 oil pressure take-offs. The top one is plugged off. There is very little room - 2-3cm above it below the starter motor. How can one fit a OT sender to this? . Anyone have picture or info. Would be much appreciated. These pictures show how tight it is. Upper take-off is the blue plug. Gasmaninaseven
I can't see how it can be done on mine- the adaptor plate incorporates the takeoff for the oil cooler. Neil IN BUILD: Guantanamo Bay Orange SUPERLIGHT R400......
Rob Walker
I used a goodridge banjo fitting and 12mmx1.5mm banjo bolt, connected to a length of SS brake hose and a tee peice on the end . The sender goes in on e hole the low oil presssure warning switch goes in the other.
Jason Plato
Rob I think your refering to the low oil pressure dashtop lamp sensor and oil pressure guage sensor fitment which uses a T piece off the oil filter plate as you describe I have my oil temp sensor fitted into the sump drain plug. This measures the bulk oil temp in the sump Dave Edited by - Dave Jackson on 18 Jul 2007 08:06:

Gasmaninaseven
Thanks thats the one I'm planning to use; the large alloy plug on the passenger side of the sump. Neil IN BUILD: Guantanamo Bay Orange SUPERLIGHT R400......
simonbell
Well spotted Dave I've been using that setup for a while now and it seems to work well. Is the SPA oile temp sender the same thread as the Caterham temp sender........just wondering as I'm thinking of changing to SPA guages at some point in the near future. Simon Bell - Caterham 7 Duratec R I`ve seen the future.....and it`s powered by duratec Check out the website here
dickbowyer
🤔 Anyone know the Duratec sump plug, SPA temp sender and CC temp sender thread sizes? Dick 100 dB Superlight SV Duratec R400
dickbowyer
Oh and which is the better route, switched CC gauge for both CC oil and water senders with mechanical oil pressure gauge or SPA dual oil pressure/oil pressure with CC gauge only for water temperature. Certainly the latter is much cheaper............ Dick 100 dB Superlight SV Duratec R400
Pat the Plumber
Richard, i had the appollo tank on my last one, and used the water temp guage, with a small switch to change over between the two. i'll be picking your brains when you've got it up and running. how would this connect to the stack dash. how's ur running, why so early with the upgrades. is the temperature of the oil a concern for you, even with a oil cooler. Duratec is the way forward!!
Jason Plato
I wouldnt bother fitting a realy sensitive pressure sensor and guage - just fit a 20psi low pressure sensor and abig F'off bright lamp. here is C7 TOP Taffia Area Rep
