skiboy
Hi, How can you differentiate big brakes from std ones when looking at the car? need to check on one car I am thinking of buying. Cheers Neil
rj
Vented front discs for a starter. At least the current ones have Caterham written on them. But alternative suppliers use the std discs, yet they call the brakes uprated because they use bigger pads on four pot callipers /r

Support Team Shaun_E Posted July 16, 2007 Support Team Share Posted July 16, 2007 All Superlights should have "big brakes" consisting of AP 4 pot calipers and vented disks. Yellow SL #
Sheds Moderator
Std calipers are from a Triumph Spitfire and have "Stanpart" on them. They have single pistons, if I recall one each side. Discs are from the same car and are solid. Some people fit Tarox upgrade discs. The caterham "big brakes" are as stated above AP twin piston devices on vented discs. In my opinion the standard front brakes are up to the task, especially if well set up with decent pads, though being unservoed they need a good shove. The std back brakes overheat a bit according to the racers.
