Caterham friendly garage for MOT

The Wasp

Recommended Posts

I think there is a place up the A5 north of Towcester "Johns Motors"?

There also is/used to be a chap in Buckingham (Ring Road Garage / Performance cars of Buckingham?), ex F1 mechanic and Caterham owner.

I have mine done at Chalky Whites in Milton Keynes.

the best and the only one to go to is the roebuck garage in Eaton Bray - top bloke, use to race westies if I remember correctley and is in to all cars and bikes.

you will help him in the test and have a great chat alone the way.

example - we were chatting about my breaks and my new install of my LSD and i quote "well we dont need to check the breaks as YOU would not go on track with dodgy breaks and I dont want to risk putting any pressure on your new LSD - so that a pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Chalky Whites is in Fenny Stratford (Bletchley), round the back of The Bridge" pub.

They have a "rogues" gallery of all the cars they have tested.

I have also used "Nationwide Auto Centre" in Bletchley (opposite Sainsburys).

I would go for John's Motors at Fosters Booth (north of Towcester on the A5). Look at his trophy cabinet while you wait and admire the number of wins he has had in his Caterham or kick the tyres of the classic cars for sale in his showroom. Don't forget to ask him to show you thrprogress on the restoration of his ex Tyrrell Lotus 18. A true enthusiast *thumbup* *thumbup* *wavey*

Another *thumbup* for the Roebuck. Nick knows Caterhams, does a good serious test (which I always find reassuring) and will help you with the rules and regs. Tell him I recommended you if you go, and that I'll expect my usual discount in August when mine's due.

John's has had good reports in the past as well.

ps You don't you drop into the area Meeting on Wed 18/07/07 - Navigation Inn, The Navigation Inn, Thrupp Wharf, Cosgrove, Buckinghamshire, MK19 7BE c.7:30sih there will be plenty of advice about garages and tricks to get you past the test.
