Malcolm
Before what I say I've done can someone advise whether the semi circular tube member under the gearbox merely provides impact protection to same or is it a structural part of the chassis. alextangent
The same hoop is on the 4 speed live axle, and to get a 5 speed box in means sawing it off... which is what I presume you've done? Alex McDonald A loud 1700 SS
Malcolm
Well guessed. Gave it a wack coming off ferry which bent it back to the point of just touching gearbox on one side. This resulted in creating resonance through chassis/floor. Did speak to CC who said they would only wack it back with a big hammer (no doubt Jeremy C would approve of solution). Tried to no avail, so with rush of blood to head hack sawed offending 3" section out. Has cured the resonance but now think I should sort out properly. DaveMorris
I've got a 5 speed de-dion and that's got the hoopy thing aswell. It will add some structural rigidity - like any linking piece. Have you removed it ? (Yes you have - I must type quicker) Dave Edited by - DaveMorris on 8 Jul 2007 22:24:
