PAC
I need to format a USB HDD with FAT32, but both my desktop and laptop only give me the option for NTFS 🙆🏻 Any ideas how I can achieve this? Paul
jingars
You may have to use the Windows Disk Manager to remove and re-size the partitions upon the disk; there is a 32Gb partition size limit for NTFS. Have a look at this article for more information but (at the risk of stating the obvious) please be careful in there - don't zap anything you don't want to! PAC
Thanks Jingars. I've got a 500Gb HDD, so need about 16 partitions .....Maybe I'll rethink this Paul
davef
32GB is a limit artificially imposed by the MS format command - the basic OS (W2k, WXP) can r/w FAT32 partitions significantly bigger than 32GB (upto 2TB). ISTR there are some 3rd party formatters that will format larger than 32GB - could be worth a google for them. Dave
