dreamer_uk75
Just put my new tyres on ready for MOT, and the front offside tyre is rubbing on the stay. Other side is fine. Looks like the toe-in has been adjusted, so the "adjuster" (the long bit of metal which looks like it should adjust the toe-in) is shorter on the nearside than the offisde. This would tie in, because it means the nearside wheel has more clearance at the back of the wheel hence not rubbing. It's quite a big difference between the 2 sides; one has enough clearance to stick your finger down, one is pressed up against it. Any ideas as can't MOT it like this :s
MikeW
I'm struggling to see how the toe in could effect this Assuming nothing is broken or loose why not just bend the stay MikeW Mega Grad Race No
dreamer_uk75
Toe in might have been a red herring then... Tried to bend it but it isn't budging. Used a long handle from a jack to lever it trying to bend it, but it isn't having any of it
Peter Carmichael
Swap your front wheels over and see if the problem goes with the wheel or stays with the stay.
dreamer_uk75
Had tried 2 wheels, def. the stay. Ended up taking the wing off, banging the stay with a real big hammer, then putting wing back on - worked :D Just couldn't get the leverage / force before ! Thanks to Chris my long suffering bloke who managed to do this while under a tarpaulin when it started p'ing it down. AM taking him out for lunch now to say thanks !
