oil leak

*mad*Discovered this morning that the contents of my sump have deposited themselves over my garage floor - 1700 crossflow. I have yet to determine the cause - but as I drove into my garage I may have caught the sump on a padlock staple bolted to the floor.

First problem - what is the best product to lift the oil? Needs to be something that I can get from somewhere like Halfords after work tonight. I cant use a hose as next doors drive is lower than mine and dont really want to polute their block paving

Secondly - if I have holed the sump, is the only option a new one? If so best supplier please in the Carshalton area.

thanks

If its a full sump worth of oil, the only sensible option is either absorbant pads if you live near a chandlers, as boaters use them in bilges, or perhaps easier to get would be a bag of cat litter.

BTW please give generously to Bundle's Big Charity Walk for Asthma research here Ta.

Cheers

Depending on the extent of the damage, you may be able to get the sump welded locally.

Only way to find out is to get underneath.

I would second the big bag of cat litter to absorb spilt oil - assuming it is a sealed garage floor. If plain (untreated) concrete, it may well have all soaked in, and probably not so much you can do now ?

And racing around to come up behind you again. photos
