sjmmarsh
I have had to replace one of mine after losing the cover after clipping a pylon at Curborough. Most of the wing bolts needed cutting off because of corrosion. Cleaned stays up and repainted with POR-15 while the wing was off. The problem is that the bolts fixing the indicator to the wing are much smaller. The old ones were separate bolts (M4 or 5), but the new ones are fixed to the indicator and don't seem to fit any of the nuts I have in my metric set. Does anyone know the correct thread for the nut? Grubbster
Are you sure you should be using the bolts that are fixed to the repeater? When you build a car, the assembly guide tells you to knock these bolts out and use the bigger ones. For a short while only - the Silverstone grid girls here (and a few nice cars!) Apothecary
Replaced mine after repainting the wings and IIRC you knock the fixed bolts out (srewdriver and hammer ❗) and the 'square' containing the imbedded screw falls through allowing you to insert a new longer version...hop that makes sense Now DVA Powered SL No.174 Member No.109xx Pictures here
sjmmarsh
Thanks guys Not having built my car I didn't know that - also when I checked in the assembly guide it just said 'fit them before fitting the wing' - I didn't see anything telling me to knock them out. (edited to say I found it in s11.2) As my old bolts are in bits (one snapped and the other had to be cut off), is there anything which says how big a bolt I should use?
