Gasmaninaseven
Is there anybody out there has built a new Duratec R400? I'd be grateful of some pictures ❗ I'm in need of some help with electrics and plumbing. The engine is in but, as I've posted elsewhere, I have too many electrical connections with not enough places to go, and only a very basic idea of where the hoses go. There's no point looking at a build manual as there isn't one, and not being a mechanical guru or having built one before I've come to a halt ☹️ Any closeup pictures would be useful; there are a number of wires underneath the plenum with no home. A run around of the plumbing would help too. I'm hoping Sean at CC will send some pics, but if youve done the build you'll be aware of the issues! Thanks! dickbowyer
Neil Picking up my R400 after 1st service from Dartford this morning. This is a CC built in April/May this year. Happy to email any particular view you want. Should be able to send by lunchtime tomorrow then off to France for a few days. I too have electrical connectors "with no particular place to go!" simonbell
Mine has a home brew duratec installation but there are some pictures on my website which may or may not be of use. If you have a specific question I'll try to answer. dickbowyer
Simon The tickover on my CC Duratec 400 is 1200 revs. Is that about right or a bit fast? Dick Superlight SV Duratec R400
dannylt
Too fast I'd say. You want more like 1000 I think. This will affect the revs drop off between gear changes etc.
dickbowyer
Had suggestion of starting car with no throttle but still ticks over at 12-1300 revs. What needs adjusting? Dick 108 dB Superlight SV Duratec R400
simonbell
1200 is probably a little fast although not overly so. It could be fuelling and ignition settings but you probably won't be able to adjust those. Check that the throttles are fully closed...... I'm not familiar with the induction on the R400 but assume it is those roller barrel TB's, and presumably there is a small air bypass valve which may need checking. It may be a case of that is how Caterham have set them up....... BAZZA
Dick, I know it sounds simple but have you tried adjusting the throttle stop at the throttle body? I believe tickover should be about 900rpm. I was told by CC that you may have to turn the ignition on and off a few times to teach the ecu what the correct throttle opening is. If all else fails give them a call at dartford. dickbowyer
CC says was adjust at 500 mile service but rev counter can't read below 12-1300 rev! Dick 108 dB Superlight SV Duratec R400
