Pat the Plumber
just had a qoute for a new 7, by caterham and adrian flux. both i have to say were more than i thought. is £5-600 steep for a duratec? can anybody recommend anybody else, like for like with caterham insurance p.Mcilravey
S47zz
I have Zetec in mine = £116 fully comp agreed value 5000miles/year including Uk & European breakdown cover & recovery. with RH specialist car division, though I have another kit car for which A Flux is by far the best deal. I was surprised Flux was so expensive for the 7 though I can't remember how much their quote was. Suggest you check the car magazines and phone around, being prepared to pay immediately if you get offered a good price
Pat the Plumber
last year i paid £250 i think, could be less but not much. that was for a superlight 1.6, so i thought (must stop doing that)£4-450 would be a realistic figure, am i being too optimistic p.Mcilravey
S47zz
You just need to phone around to find a company that need your business, obviously Caterham and Flux do not need your business - hence the high quotes 😔 I'd be disapointed if I couldn't find insurance for a duratec 7 for less than £300, I live in a low insurance area - obviously that makes a difference too
Little Bob
My 1.8 SuperSport is £189 through Footman James (3000 miles) - this was the cheapest I found after much phoning/webbing.
Pat the Plumber
just did an online quote from footman james, hope your all sat down £922, with 250 excess...............dont think so 😬 Duratec is the way forward!!
shn7
Pat, I think the problem may be that you're now looking at insuring a car with more than 200bhp. I seem to recall a number of the insurers hike the prices when power gets this high. I'd keep shopping around. If you do a search in chitchat for insurance you'll find loads of compnaies referred to. jeremybu
If you have 3 or more cars, it may be worth looking at a private fleet policy Lets hope the 7 sins aren't deadly
Pat the Plumber
sorted, phoned footman james and they came back with a very competative qoute, under £350, so i'm off to get the car this week lifes tough when you have to insure two vehicles with over 200 bhp 😬 thanks for the info. Duratec is the way forward!!
Pikelet
I'm only 27 years old and i pay £240 with Adrian Flux. This covers me for my Seven, complete with Zetec Upgrade, up to 200bhp, so perhaps this is the threshold; i.e. beyond this, the costs soar. My girlfriend is also insured, she has 3 points (SP30), but hasn't driven the Seven in months. Pikelet 😬
