thermostat housing to heater hose

The build manual suggests a 5/8" (16mm) hose to connect the thermostat housing (water pump) to the heater control valve.

 

The hose on my car has an 18mm > 16mm connector part way along this hose which suggests that the stat housing is an 18mm connection. Have there been different versions of the stat housing and does this sound correct? Do others have the same setup?

Stat housing is 18mm, caterham supply a special hose that is 18mm then exits at 90 degrees into a 16mm straight.

Thanks Peter. Don't suppose you happen to know the size of the hose from the header tank too? Looks like 20mm I.D.
