Molecular--Bob Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 When i change my water pump do i have to remove the timing cover as well? The gasket looks like it fits under both parts. Anything i should watch out for when i do this?
John Ryan Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 No, I am pretty sure the timing cover stays put! No major issues, just a bit fiddly.
NevDyson Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Molecular Bob, I just changed the watr pump today due to the bearing collapsing. Dead easy job, only 3 Bolts, just a word of warning there are 2 differant pumps for the Xflow, I picked one up today from a motor factors part number FWP 1188, this turned out to be the wrong pump as the drive wheel has a differant length of protrusion. I ended up having to pack it out from the inside of the drive wheel. The pump i took off has 173088 stamped on it. So it may be worth your while to take the pump off and take it with you when you pick up the new one. Get In , Sit Down, Shut Up, Hang On. :-) Working next door to Caterham Cars is getting expensive .........
