Rev counter - flickering around 2K

Out for a blat last night and I noticed the standard CC rev counter flickers around 2000rpm it's fine evrywhere else - is this a known fault 🤔, or merely a characteristic of trhe CC tacho.

 

I'm running Emerald with the GM QED twin coil

yes, this is a well-known driver-induced error. It's supposed to be flickering around 7,500 rpm 😬

mine is more of a "swingometer" than a flicker - I've been told i've got a "bad earth" though that's one of the phrases I've heard many times and never verified as being a properly existing condition that affects rev counters.
