O/T - Repairing porous alloy wheels?

My daughters Rover 114 has a tyre that goes flat over a few days. It's a new tyre with a new valve, but the alloy wheel showed signs of corrosion when the new tyre was fitted.

 

I'm going to have the tyre removed so that I can clean up the wheel and repaint it.

 

Do I need to use any special materials or techniques?

A paint job normally does the job unless it is really bad but you will have to paint the inside of the wheel as well, tyre off.

You need 'Rubber Rim Seal', I'll bring some to MIRA on Saturday, you can let me have what you haven't used back at Curb or Aintree if you'r going.
