Beelzebub Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I've got a pic of one mated to the engine hanging from the hoist if any use. If so bounce me a mail to my profile & I'll send it return of post.
Jason Plato Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 😬 the one on the left here is C7 TOP South Wales AO
shn7 Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Though that picture includes the bell housing of course 😬 Steve. Not forgetting Percy the Polar Bear
JonW Posted August 3, 2006 Author Posted August 3, 2006 Dave - LOL! Cheers guys - I was searching your build diary Knowley and had seen that pic. it looks nice and manageable :) Steve - Yes boxed its without the bellhousing I recall. My old 5speed will give up that part. Does anyone have a pic of one in its crate/box? or know a part number? Im thinking the obvious differnce between the 6 and 5 speeds is the cast Caterham top cover on the 6 speed and steel plate with Ford on the 5speed? Cheers for your help guys. J
Jason Plato Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Does anyone have a pic of one in its crate/box? try this here 😬 😬 😬 😬 😬 😬 😬 *tongue* Edited by - Dave Jackson on 3 Aug 2006 15:10:46
Jason Plato Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 the 6 speed does have the cast ally top plate. I would also suggest you simply try changing gear through the 7 ratios (inc reverse )to be sure it weighs 27 Kg I think so he may need help to lift it . here is C7 TOP South Wales AO Edited by - Dave Jackson on 3 Aug 2006 15:12:42
Frying Pan Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Mine was delivered in a cardboard box which just had 6-Speed Road on a small label. Biggest difference is that it says CATERHAM 6-SPEED on the top plate at the front end (visible when in the car). See some pictures of the build here. 10000 miles completed!
knowley Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I was searching your build diary Knowley Ahh so you saw just how managable it is connected to a k-series! Picture here 😬 (Really its Simon S's build diary, I bought the car of him - cheers Si ) Edited by - knowley on 3 Aug 2006 20:37:42
Tim Broyd Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 My Caterham 6-speed came in a cardboard box - surprisingly enough just a tad bigger than the gearbox itself Not too heavy - easy enough for one person to pick up etc Tim B
JonW Posted August 4, 2006 Author Posted August 4, 2006 Thanks again guys (even Dave!). Anyone got a close up pic of the top plate? Im going blind (!) searching thru build diaries lookind a decent pic of that cast plate... 😳 I like the engine over the shoulder pic... if only we didnt need hoists! lol. Good call trying the box thru all 7 gears... tho I didnt think the boxes came with gear levers attached... am i wrong?
