shn7 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Given that my thread here didn't come up with a cheap solution and that my local ex rover dealer is now completely ex (empty premiese!!) what's the best way to diagnose an erratic idle. Is it to find a friendly fellow with an emerald & laptop that can be plugged into my car (1.8K SS) or take place known to have the correct skills/kit? Suggestions please? Steve. Gridgway Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I suggest getting to Ridgway Towers an arrange to have the resident mechanic investigate with an emerald and laptop! Otherwise you won't be ready for either of the two september track days (which I may have omitted to mention!). Graham Mind you after sat (that is sunday!) we are orf for 2 weeks hols, the resident mechanic might be there though! Or you could arrange to meet him nearer your gaff!

henry21p Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 maybe Simon Hayward can help - I think he works in this field (or knows someone who can) - I'll see if i can ask him

John Howe Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Steve, I think Lingfield Rovers are still able to help with plug ins. I know Miura went there about 6 weeks ago to have his immobiliser reprogrammed. JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
shn7 Posted August 4, 2006 Author Posted August 4, 2006 Thanks John, Think I'm sorted with a visit to see PC at Gridgway Towers but if that falls through I may be calling on our services 😳 😬 Steve. Not forgetting Percy the Polar Bear
Frying Pan Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Every MG Rover Dealer had TestBook, which was replaced with T4 in 2000-2001. There is also an optional T4 HHT(Hand Held Tester) which many of them bought. These were also available for purchase by independent traders. When MG Rover closed down, many of their Dealers continued trading. A few, like SMC, are still going, and are slowly selling off the runway full of cars at Upper Heyford. Many now will have moved to smaller (cheaper) premises, and will still have their T4 kits. There are plenty still around... Have a look here for your local specialist. Guy See some pictures of the build here. 10000 miles completed!
