MARK LE LAY Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Ok – Car goes into garage for ignition fault (engine keeps cutting out at idle, plus running very much with unburnt fuel) Would re-start immediately no problem only to cut out again later when idling whilst pulling up to white line ! Mechanic finds fault with ECU crank sensor and replaces with new sensor. Also changed for new dizzy cover and rotor arm. Above ignition fault dissappears ! Great. However new fault exists straight after taking out of garage, which is a very bad misfire under load say above 3000rpm. I have changed the coil and coil pack for new – still the same. Changed plugs – still the same I am about to change the leads but not convinced problem will go…….having trouble getting decent HT set also. Should be here tomorrow? My only concern is that the misfire was not present before it went to the garage and after changing the 3 components it is there?? Could the crank sensor or rotor arm be faulty? Any other ideas - - desperate now, hoping to go on track at Le Mans in 12 days? Appreciate any help. Mark 07797 728939 VX 2.0 245bhp race
EFA Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Check the carb venturis are not loose. If they are, you're only getting fuel from the idle jets. The venturi revolves, hence the problems becomes intermittent. K2RUM - The car of two halveswith a hole in the engine
