Paul Formston Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Hi my Wipac Headlamps, the rivets holding them together at the base have vibrated loose, has anyone else had this problem I have replaced them with aircraft hylok bolts and they seem OK. But its a bit of a poor show every thing on these sevens seems cheep except the price of the car regards Paul
mav Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 They are SVC I think, not Wipac (that is just the lens unit)
Sheds Moderator Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Yeah, sorry Paul, there are a lot of things on these cars which are frankly a bit crap. I could go on at length about the failings of the things but then they do drive extremely well. It's not a VW or Toyota badge on the front though, and some would say so much the better.
Unclefester Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Paul, Ring Steve at SVC and tell him. He is very receptive about problems and will tweak his subcontractor if it's a fixeable fault. Are yours the chromed brass shells, or black steel ones? I think he gets them from different suppliers. Check with a magnet, there are some crap chromed steel ones made in China and much cheaper than the brass ones, but I've not heard of them falling apart before. The brass ones are about £120 a pair. NICE PLATE!!! 😬 😬here *eek* Edited by - Unclefester on 31 Jul 2006 22:33:42
Phil Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Very disappointed taking the original chrome ones off of my car to find they are made in TAIWAN X/FLOW 1700 DD 1990 ROAD USE ONLY..SO FAR
Mick Day Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 *confused*Aaarh I see, it's the headlight bowls that are disintegrating not the light unit itself.
Normans_Ghost Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 When I spoke to chap at SVC (standing beside his PA midget - nice) he said he makes the h/lamps but has to supply Wipac cahuse CC wont buy from him. h_____ Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Yes this is common, rivet them back up again, using bigger rivets if needed.
Paul Formston Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 Hi lads thanks for the info and I have got some Hylok aircraft bolts which we use instead of rivets so i have repaired the lights with them thanks for the help cheers Paul
