The generator in my '68 crossflow is dead. ☹️

I've had the car for 2 months and uptill now it has been working just fine, but yesterday it was kicking in after 4000 rpm *eek*

And now all it is doing is act as a belt tensioner.

Perhaps it dident like the danish regulations on lights on all the time and a driver affraid of overheating the engine so driving with the fan ON all the time.

It looks brand new, any ideas what brand it could be? (from what current production car)

Only two connectons, charge lamp and charge cable.

At that age, probably a Lucus . I am assuming its an Alternator and not a Dynamo ? Most Alternator repair places should still be able to repair something like that regardless of who made it or sell you something more modern that is the equivalent with 2 wires.

It is a Alternator, and it looks new and shiny so I don't think it has any thing to do with the cortina era.

No labels or numbers on it at all.

I'll pull it out and see if I can find a alternator repair shop.

Jano,

I ordered a couple of new replacement alternators recently from a company in the UK who have bought all the Lucas stock. Can't recall the name but I can get it for you.

You will need to photograph the thing so they are 100% sure to send the right one, but if it's an old X flow it's probably the same as mine.

Cost £38 brand new and posted nice and quick. We were quoted £250 here in France!

Interested?

I found a replacement alternator.

Apparently it was a Ford Fiesta part.

£35 is VERY cheap, I paid £80 *mad*
