CageyH Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 With a modern turbo diesel landy, what type of fuel economy can I expect for general road use, and from Towing?
metal mickey Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Disco TDV6 (which I swore i'd never buy but did after trying one) 25mpg average,28 on a long run and 22 towing a BIG trailer.
Parker Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Fab 1 is a Disco 3 TD V6 HSE auto. Parker gets about 28mpg on a run and 19 mpg around town. If you're worried about the fuel economy, don't ask about the servicing costs It's a great vehicle, although it doesn't have a fridge for the Bolli
old captain slow Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 110 Defender 53 plate tootling about 28mpg. Long journeys 30 mpg. Towing a Mino Shuttle with the 7 plus spares, gazebo, wheels etc and not hanging about 22 mpg. C7 CDW
Graham Perry Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 The terms Fuel economy and Land rover don't normally appear in the same sentance if you are talking about the Defender/Classic Land Rover 😳 Last TD Defender we used did 23-24. The later ones have better engines with higher top gears and no doubt Nifty will be along in a minute with a more up to date set of numbers
Frying Pan Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Lady Penelope Parker is telling you porkies. Either he bought an SE and changed the badge for an HSE, or he is keeping his lunch in the fridge in the centre console instead of the Bolly. The fridge is standard fit on HSE... And shouldn't you be drinking Cristal Champers anyway Guy See some pictures of the build here. 10000 miles completed! Edited by - 7heavensoon on 29 Jul 2006 22:10:17
Myles Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 The terms Fuel economy and Land rover don't normally appear in the same sentance Didn't I point this out earlier in the thread? Hello? Anyone there???
thinfourth Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 wow 30mpg from a 110 thats impressive i got a 90 with the 300Tdi and it is about 25mpg on a good day but i suppose the mud tyres and big sodding bumpers and rollcage don't help. But it will move anything 😬 The happy handle made me do it here
Graham Perry Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Lord Blatchatter, Sorry mate I thought your Oxymoron refered to the terms Modern and Landy 😬 Edited by - Graham Perry on 29 Jul 2006 23:15:26
old captain slow Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 If I'm completely honest and give all the facts 30mpg is cruising at around 60mph. C7 CDW
elie boone Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 I have an old Range classic 200TDI and i get about 8ltr/100km ( 920/940km out of 62/64 ltr ) at 60 mph that is without a trailer. Is a gallon of fuel 4.5ltr or 3.75 ltr ?
Normans_Ghost Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Elie, 4.5461 litres to be exact. I use 4.55 on a calculator and 9 to 2 gals without Norman Verona, 1989 BDR 220bhp, Reg: B16BDR, Mem No 2166, the full story here You and your seven to The French Blatting Company Limited
Parker Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 7heavensoon I wondered why my CD's were cold - so that's the fridge 😳 Actually, ours is the early HSE before the fridge became a standard fit
Sheds Moderator Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 I think the only way to run a Landy without becoming bankrupt is to get a diesel and run it on recycled chip fat. *Maybe* an LPG conversion is tolerable if you have to use a sparky engine.
