Car is turning over but not starting, not even a cough so with my basic knowledge that must mean no spark or no fuel.

Have disconnected a pipe on the fuel rail to see if there is petrol at that point. When turning the engine over there is nothing coming out and the moment I release the starter button it then deposits a glug (technical term!) of fuel.

My numpty brain says this must mean it is turning over with no fuel in the engine and then soaking the spark plugs the minute I release the starter button. But as I know so little the above fueling procedure may be absolutely right... which is it?

Cheers

Doh! Sorry in my haste to post I forgot a few essentials 😬

98 K series supersport running standard MEMS with immobiliser off at all times - no plipper (its an ex race car)

Have checked the fuse, and it doesn't have a reset as it is a race car.

Does it sound wrong to you? On pressing the starter button should I be getting a flow of fuel, a pulse of fuel or nothing until I let go as it is doing?

On further checking it looks like i'm getting no spark. Fuel pump is definitely priming on ignition though which if it was imobiliser issue I thought it wouldn't do????

It does not have the inertia cut off switch?

Try removing the fuel pipe and momentarily switching on the ignition. You should see if you have fuel or not.

Easiest way to check for a spark is to whip out a plug, and fit it to the HT lead. Hold this against the block with a cloth, or other way of insulating your hand, and turn the engine over. If you have a spark, you should see it.

Then you can work from there...

Have you got a spark?

It sounds like fuel issue to me.

If you turn on the ignition, you should see fuel come out, before cranking.

Which pipe have you disconnected to look at the fuel?
