DEyres Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Just had the Caterham tested and came across a bit of a issue. The car is pre SVA (by a couple of months) and its first used date is 01/06/98, therefore should be visible smoke test only, but the tester thought it should pass emissions with Cat test. Needless to say I told him otherwise. But, on looking at the data from the DVLA terminal the first used date was down as 31/12/98, after the SVA and therefore needing a cat test. He changed this as I had my V5 with me so could prove this to be incorrect and tested as pre-sva. Also you need to know the exact model of 7 as this gives the kerb side weight and this is used to calculate the percentage efficiency of the brakes and its on that figure that its passes of fails. If you have a non standard model then know the weight and they can key it in manually. Anybody else have any suggestion/hints/advice It passed BTW 😬 😬 😬
Myles Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Yes, take it to an enthusiast who puts on special-shoes just for you... ...I was wondering about his footwear this year - until he reversed the cars straight over the brake-rollers and did the old-fashioned brake test Project Scope-Creep is live... Blackbirdman Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 My tester just asks "are te brakes OK", I say Yes and that's it 😬 Life begins at 10,000
S47zz Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 My Lotus 7 1970 was tested for emissions despite my protestations, and the fact that I had the V5 with me, The computer told the tester to check emissions [pre cat] and he did [the plonker] Guess you can't define common sense . Punch line was though it Passed 😬 Ha HA Ha.
