Corkheader Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Anyone have a suggestion where I can get 82 or 84 degree stat for a VX1600 engine. I have tried Vauxhall and various factors but all can only supply a 92 the alternative heat ranges are now obsolete and Caterham cant supply. It is a specific part that fits into a carrier in the head. I have just had the head re built and been advised by the AC Engineering that the lower temp stat should be used although the cars were supplied without a stat by Caterham. I have followed previous threads on here and fitted the modification to the hoses etc but cant find a stat! Any suggestions?? John
Peter T Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Redline can supply you with the correct thermostat. Tel no- 01883 346515 R500 Mango Madness
Lee Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 As far as I know, I think it was included on the first batch of scholarship 1997/98 cars that were ordered with a heater, and then when the heater was removed for racing, it overheated (Caterham only had one test car, and that had a heater, so didn't show up the problem!). It was then omitted from all later cars. I took mine out in early '98, but the new owner has it now.
goffers Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I managed to get a 82 deg thermostat (part number 90486128) from a local Vauxhall agent just over a year ago. It was not available from Vauxhall UK, but was sourced (I seem to recall) from Germany. I called Vauxhall UK HQ myself and eventually found someone who could help, and I briefed the local Vauxhall storeman, who had to use a non standard part ordering procedure to get the part - sorry my memory's a bit hazy on the detail. Perhaps you could try this if you have no luck with Redline goffers
