Smudge11 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 1990 X/flow ss DD car on 15 inch wheels with 195/50/15 tyres. I would like to change to cycle wings. Anyone give me a detailed run down of what I need please? Cost? Jumped in, sat down, strapped in. WILL DEFINITELY NOT SHUT UP
Kevsta Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Set of cycle wings (I bought second hand and had them resprayed) Set of cycle wing stanchions (or whatever they're called...they hold the cycle wing in place....you'll have to remove the brake calliper for this btw so a bleed will be required) I bought second hand and repainted them You can get new light housings as the one you have has a leg off that also holds the wing on but you can just cut off the bit you don't want (I did this and covered the end with those SVA nut covers) Total cost is dependant on what you want to spend on it. You can get quotes from CC and look for second hand too. Think it cost me about £40 for the wings, £30 for the wing stands, £100 for wing spraying (I had new rears too and they were all in for this) and a bit of time. You may need to move the indicator inwards a bit as the wing fouls the light housing on full lock....though I still haven't got round to doing this!
Sheds Moderator Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 You can block the holes in the sideskins with either ally and filler or (easier) stainless steel dome head bolts.
Nigel Riches Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 BOOOO, HIIIIIISSSSSSSSSS, deserter. Only joking, its your car, do with it what you will. 1982. 5 speed, clamshells. B.R.G / Ali. The True Colours.
Unclefester Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Little ally sheet plates glued inside the body are ok, filled from outside obviously, but you have a problem on the holes behind the bulkhead with the enginebay.....as there are inner panels in the legwells...... *confused* and you can't just drill into them too easily, as they are not ally, but steel! This does actually present the single biggest problem. To do it properly, you need to remove the inner panels, which really means taking the scuttle off etc etc.AAaarrrggghhh!!! I reckon BOSS has the right idea.....or leave the clams on! NICE PLATE!!! 😬 😬here *eek* Edited by - Unclefester on 22 Jun 2006 23:03:31
