Offered the half door up to see where the leading edge pre-inserted poppers would meet the scuttle, and the upper leading edge one wants to sit where the dash tube meets the scuttle (when you fit the rear such that the curve neatly follows the rear wing).

Is this normal (ie. self-tapper through popper base, through scuttle and into dash tube) or will it usually just go through ali scuttle? Was thinking the tube would offer a more secure popper base, at the risk of the drilling phase going tits-up.

On my old car the popper for the half doors and tonneau sat just in front of the dash rail. It left very little room for the rivet head to expand, but seemed to hold OK. Can you move the door forward 1/2 an inch 🤔

Sorry, can't help.

I fitted the Mog c/f half doors and the leading edge slips just inside the body work at the front, so it only needs to reuse the rear three fittings around the wheel arch to trap the back end.

It might pay you to also use self self-adhesive velcro, which will serve to stop water creeping up the leading edge and into the cockpit.

It is incredibly-easy to get slightly off-centre and to drill a slot quicker than you can stop/remove the drill... *mad*

I think I ended up moving the location of the poppers in the HD itself...

Thanks guys - I've decided to put it through the dash tube in the end (I don't have much flexibility because the poppers are already in the HD as I bought them used). I will then either tap the tube wall to M4 and use a buttonhead, or use a self-tapper, so that I can easily remove the scuttle in future.
