Violet Elizabeth Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Any recommended technical solutions for carrying a chassis on a PRG minitech trailer ? The floor panels have been replaced by arch, and I don't think just laying it on the trailer is going to do it much good.
Mark Durrant Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Noger I bought some 2"x2" timber from B&Q and covered it in bubblewrap. The timber was laid width ways across the trailer, the chassis placed on top and then ratchet straps used at the front and rear of the chassis to hold it in place. Mark D Comp Sec
Graham Perry Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Marks way is exactly the way I would do it, but might use some old carpet offcuts to wrap the wood
Violet Elizabeth Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 Thanks, that seems sensible. Was slightly worried about the wood moving under the chassis, but I guess I could tie that down too.
Mark Durrant Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Noger I found with the tension fromm the ratchet straps and the weight of the chassis was sufficient to stop the wood moving around Mark D Comp Sec
Rishy Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 I used this method also but tied wood to the chassis as well, so if there was movement (which there was) the support went with the chassis. Having said that I did have the rear suspension/ wheels on.
old captain slow Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Also try and secure the bearers so if you get any movement on the trailer in transit it's between the bearers and the trailer and not between the bearers and your brand new chassis. Rubs the powder coating off - what! C7 CDW
elie boone Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Fix the timber to the trailer and use the holes for the engine mount to fix the chassis to the timber, at the rear you can use the outside holes from the A frame, fix an L profile to it and then fix the L profile with 2 screws to the timber.

Simon Reader Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Put the chassis on 3 old tyres, one under the front cross and two at the rear, then ratchet strap the chassis to the trailer.
