Not sure if it's where the back of the gearbox meets the propshaft, or from the cable (speedo? revs?) that goes into the back of the gearbox. I've wiped it all clean and i'll have another look tommorrow.

How worried should I be? It looks like fresh oil, and i've had one or two drops on the garage floor, but it's nothing more than that at the moment. It's not happened before in my 2 years of ownership.

thanks,

Well, that's the thing. I've managed to completely ignore the gearbox since I got the car - even when I took the engine out I left the box behind. I've never filled it and never checked the level (probably about time I did). So it's not going to be an overfill, since I haven't ever added oil. It did go off for a respray recently, so perhaps they might have jacked the nose up to an extreme enough angle to cause the back of the box to overflow, but I kinda think I'm grasping at non-existant straws here.

I take it that if it persists, it can only be a leaky seal at the back of the box and I have to take the engine and box out?

Are you sure it's not coming from the speedo drive oil seal?

In any case a couple of drops doesn't sound much of a problem. Worth checking the gearbox oil level if you are concerned
