w powers Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Took the bonnet off last night and noticed evidance of a small leakage from the cooling system. Adjacent to the heater on one of the joints there has been a small leak, some of the joint are held together by jubilee clips and some by a form of crimped type clips? Its not leaked before, so why would it suddenly spring a leak, albiet small .... are bad things just round the corner? the last R300 with RB (I think)
Mike Oxbiggar Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Don't know if this helps but I had a small leak appear from the joint at the bottom of the radiator. Tightened all jubliee clips but leak remained. Couldn't find the leak so changed a slightly perished pipe and all fixed ok. Good luck Mango Orange Supersport 1600- It just looks DENTED! w powers Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Just a thought (and I'm sure its not the case)... dont know if this is going to make any sense..... but if the head gasket had gone and the cooling was getting pressurised this sort of this would happed right? How else would I know? the last R300 with RB (I think)
Dirty Den Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I think those crimped clips are just an alternative to jubilee clips - I've got the crimp clips on my tintop where a jubilee clip would be too big? If it is leaking from the hose, it might be best to replace it as a precaution, rather than risk more coolant loss. I guess the hose is aging and the clip has cut into the hose slightly? The cooling system should be pressurised. It increases the boiling temperature of the coolant. If the system is not pressurised properly, then that would be a problem. w powers Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Actually the hoses / clips are only 12months old? the last R300 with RB (I think)
Mark Durrant Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I would remove the offending clip and replace with a jubilee, then rebleed etc as it will only deteriorate further Mark D Comp Sec
