Dumb question on cooling

I have to confess to having done a rather silly thing - topped up the coolant in the expansion bottle and forgot to put the top back which of course has gone AWOL. Since I life in Switzerland - no Halfords or anything remotely like it - any suggestions as to what to do as a temporary measure? Can I just tape up the hole?

 

Have ordered a replacement to be delivered in the UK when I am there the week after next.

What engine is it?

 

If it's something 'modern' like a k-series, the cooling system relies on being pressurised - so running without the proper cap will not be a good idea...

As summer has only just arrived have you considered asking Kumschick for one, would get you on the road quicker perhaps. Our sevens are not so modern and don't have the local contact for this up-to-date engineering 😬. Geoff
