David Heaven Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Hi folks, I've got pagid RS14s up front as part of an uprated front brake setup that are wearing out my (standard) discs at a rate of knots....no surprise at that but if anyone has a suggestion for some longer wearing discs that would be much appreciated Many thanks, David
shn7 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 If you've got the std non vented disks then I'd suggest you simply replace them. Think they're pretty cheap. Unlike the vented ones which are £250/pair Steve. Not forgetting Percy the Polar Bear
stephen grant Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 The standard discs should be about £15-£20 each side stephen
DohNut Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Or you can "upgrade" by spending £75+ Pair on name brand copies of the disks and more still with groves and / or x-drilling. If they are from a better material they may wear better .... or not. The surface finish may stop rust which would be nice. Nick
stephen grant Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Does the gain in x-drilling from improved heat management outweigh the loss of braking surface area?
David Heaven Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 Thanks folks :-) I presume for my configuration the discs would still be standard triumph spitfire front discs ?
DohNut Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 In respect of heat managment I thought they would be most applicable to the rear of the car where you dont actually want any increase in braking force but they are prone to overheating. There is a claim that the pads are constanly deglazed which is said to increase braking performance. Nick
