wild bill Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I am considering spare wheel removal but would like an answer to 1) What do i use in the case of a flat presumably just a tyre weld can, do they work? How many miles grace 2) Is it worth keeping the spare for touring abroad and putting on as replacement while flat get's repaired as tyre weld won't last long and getting CR500's in France might be tricky at short notice 3) If i keep the spare in thge garage what does BC suggest to cover the hole whilst still leaving it usable
AdamQ Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 3. I bought a bonnet badge, removed the two little locating lugs and stuck it over the hole with velcro for quick and easy removal (probably by somebody else while the car is parked one day, but so far so good). The only drawback is that it doesn't sit flush on the skin, but it looks fine from anything over about 4 feet away. I did consider getting some plastic rod and gluing it to the back of the badge so that it could be screwed into the hole, but velcro was the easier option. Some people mount the number plate light using the hole and I'm sure that many other cunning things have been done. Adam
dave1968 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Adam I had my spaer wheel carrier converted to make it removable so i could use it for touring etc (that was two and a half years ago and its never been back on the car). Rat Race did my conversion and they got me a number plate light with a screw thread and it screws into the hole left behind from the wheel carrier, so nice neat solution Dave
