I think I need to see exactly where it is supposed to be. I have just spent a good 40 minutes with an endoscopic camera exploring, but I have no idea what I am looking for or at.
I have also tried poking a smartphone in anywhere I could get it and taken pics. Same result.
My '87 BDR has it's VIN stamped on a bracket right in front of the left side footwell. Please excuse the state of my car, I'm working on that at the moment.
that would be under the battery tray on mine. Looks like yours was factory built. It's a very similar triangle. Mine was CKD (kit). Thanks for this I will have a look. Happy fettling :-)

Mine was delivered as a kit. I get the sense that there was a fair amount of variability coming out of Caterham at that time.
