I agree with 7WOW - they are a fairly new product so doubt many if any around 2nd hand.

Early Safety Devices cages are 200-400 pounds - just need to get the nack of climbing in and out (and ensuring sufficient head to cage clearance in the event of an accident, hence I run a tall version and lowered floor)

My cage was an ebay auction win at £79 some years ago which is incredibly cheap for a tall cage - TBH it wasn't advertised very well!

yeah I think you're right.

I'm going to get one over winter, just need to put the order in with Caterham I guess and then wait.

Do they even make them for Imperial cars? Since they're quite recent, I imagine they're only for metric cars. Not sure if they can be made to fit.

Yep. The link is for the imperial version.
I'm err, fairy sure mine is imperial. 2007 R400 S3. It has a serial number stamped on it where arch would.

2006 was the transition year my previous car was April 2006 and ordered in Sept 2005 and I was given the option on Metric or Imperial chassis - Arch every time for me..

Metric cars have chassis number on right upper chassis rail visible with bonnet removed and a much squarer pedal box and short diagonals under the bonnet to - and MIG welded joints

Imperial have VIN on back edge of pedal box under the brake pipe and last 4 digits of the order number along with the jig number on the boss behind the drivers right shoulder, long diagonals and beautiful bronze welded joints.

Back to the cage - you may if your lucky find and SLR if you ring the race teams, these afford more internal room and easy to get in thro the top if you a simple step on the read side mount (A BMX stunt peg) these offer more protection and increased rigidity too.

Are you sure? They only seem to list two - one for "S3" and one for "SV (metric)".

They do make them for imperial S3 cars as one has been fitted very recently to a car in our group.  As they are made for special order I suppose they can be manufactured for either variant

Hi

I have one for sale. I bought it secondhand a few years ago and have had it fitted on my 1998 SLR. Its currently off the car.

Its painted in kawasaki green and was this color when i bought it , and it has additional mirrors, headrest and an MSA/FIA approved sticker. It has high front to back side bars unlike the one on the Caterham site

Looking for £400. If its not for you then i may decide to try and sell it with my SLR which will be on sale in about a week

I can post some photos if i can work out how to include them or else i can send some.

Regards

So I've been offered this:

which looks exactly what I want apart from the side bars. it has the reinforcement at the front unlike the Superlight cage. I'm probably going to call Caged who made it but anyone know if I can just...... angle grind the sidebars off?

I'm fully aware it won't be as useful as it is, but I'm not racing, I just don't want the range rover that I'm going under to chop my head off when I forget to stop indicating.
