I need a new reluctor ring (the toothed wheel on the RHS drive shaft that the speedo sensor reads from).
Anyone :
1) got one spare
2) got a drive shaft with one on I can have
3) know where I can get one
Chris
Whilst I was looking though, these guys https://exmol.com/ said they would be able to make one up. At the time the cost would have been £120 ex vat for 1, £75 each for 2, dropping via several steps to to £40 each for more than 10.
For info, I asked CC yesterday what the I/D was (via "ask an expert" on the Parts site) and they replied just now with 71.4mm, so that matches pretty well.
There is a possibility of using a standard ring (such as a Rover 43 tooth one) then having a plain sleeve machined to make up the difference in diameter between the ring I/D and driveshaft O/D.
#3 - Their sister site https://reluctorrings.com/ says if the car isn't listed by them and you're the first person to request one they'll make it for free.
On the assumption that GKN make our driveshafts, I've asked them if they can supply the ring, and also provide measurements of the ring (I/D) and tripod tulip (O/D). If/when I hear back, I'll post up details.
As was suggested here, maybe the 71.4mm is actually 2 13/16" converted?
Re #8: Thanks for the pointer - I'll follow it up. But they do say "ABS" so they may baulk at the idea of a "speedo" ring. Also, I guess I'll need to provide accurate measurements as well.
A bit of a thread resurrection, but did you ever find a source of new rings? They seem to be rarer than unobtainium.

I ended up getting one second hand.

Thanks for that. You didn't happen to measure the ring, did you -- in particular, the I/D?
JV
the dimensions I had at the time were
43 teeth
internal dia. 73mm
outer dia. 93mm
But those come with absolutely no warranty at all - so use at your own risk...
Many thanks.

Worth an ask JV?

I measured up a few tripode drive shafts a few months ago to make up some trigger wheels for traction control.
The rings I had laser cut at 72.6mm diameter fit all of the shafts I've tried them on.
Re# 10:
That's very interesting, Richard.
Can you say who cut the rings for you, and the cost? And do you know the O/D of the rings and how many teeth they have?
