Tracsport LSD One Year On

This weekend (23rd-24th Oct) is the anniversary of refitting my diff with a Tracsport LS unit installed.

So decided to give it a health check.

Mileage 1451 due to earlier COVID restrictions.

Mag plug had residual fuzz on it. No problem.

Oil was slightly darker in colour - expected. No obvious nasties floating about. Oil is Castrol B373 SAE 90 GL5.

The wheels rotate together & in the same direction !

The break out force is approximately 25 ft/lbs which according to Steve Perks is the build pre load.

During time on the road the diff has been eerily quite though during the high ambient summer temperatures of 30c tended to whine slightly dependent on RPM. In contrast to the original Titan the SPC unit carries out the job with little fuss but you know that it is working by how the car reacts during aggressive driving on some of Wiltshire's best B roads.

No track work as yet to fully assess the diff.

Sounds just like mine was, at a year old, back in August though I've not been aware of any whining noises at all.

My son and I managed one wet track day, pushing the car hard was a bit beyond my ability but my son enjoyed quite a good few laps and reckons the SPC is a leap forward on what we had. (Though we can't really be sure how long we drove the car with only a partly functional Titan).

#7 - Dave connors - Glad to read that you are getting on with your Tracsport unit. As with other 'converts' I would suggest an annual oil condition check &/or change, wheel rotation & break out torque check just to be on the safe side.

The break out torque will be different to a Titan. Much lower in fact. Steve Perks will know what he set yours to during assembly. Probably about 25ft/lbs.

Also if you have not fitted a Gold Plug I would suggest doing so as removing this annually will be another instant health check of the diff internals.
