Ralph
Hi allAs part of my IVA prep on my ex track SIGMA 140 car when checking the pedal box I found the Throttle pedal has been altered ( and they did not do a good job of it, See Photo),Going buy the look of what they have done am I correct in assuming I will have to order a, LOW SLUNG PEDAL FOR 30P190A Pedal Box (Can anybody confirm that I have this pedal box by the photo, or would I order a standard SV Pedal?Any help appreciatedRalph. John Vine
That's not pretty, but I don't think you need a new pedal as the only damage is to the very top of the pedal shaft. Normally, the cable inner sits at the bottom of the front slot, with the nipple in the centre of the shaft, and the end of the inner protruding through a small hole at the rear: A plug of silicone sealant will stop the inner coming out again.I think all you need to do is remove the pedal and clean up the mangled metal with a file, ending up with a neat round tube. Add a touch of Hammerite for protection, and reassemble.JV
Tony Whitley
I echo that and also I put a clevis joint on mine (like the brake but smaller) after the second time the cable snapped.
Area Representative paul richards Posted November 22, 2022 Area Representative Share Posted November 22, 2022 Agree with the above. I think you can salvage the pedal with a bit of bending and filing, but the design is very poor with the cable often failing adjacent to the nipple where the cable is cut by a sharp edge. I bent the pedal so that the cable is not pulled at such an acute angle but I have decided that when mine breaks again I will modify and include a clevis.
