Sigma airbox fitting

With a view to a future upgrade on my 2010 sigma 125 to 140, I'm thinking of replacing the cone air filter with the airbox/cold air intake. I will have to move the battery in front of the heater & cut a hole in the bonnet, is there anything else I should know?

On my previous 7 when I went from 125 to 140, done by Seven and Classics they cut the vent on the air intake side to connect with the air box with a rubber seal. They also moved the battery as they are all ex Caterham I would assume they did what was a standard upgrade.

Mine was a 2009 125 originally.

Hi Rich,

Personally I'd leave the foam air filter on, the cold air airbox doesn't work in my eyes.  Yes sticking with the foam filter means the engine is pulling warm air in, but this air is static under the bonnet.  Air rushing over your car at whatever speed, isn't doing to want to turn, sharp left into your airbox.  The problem gets worse here as the vehicle speed increases.

On our F160 Sigma Ti-VCT upgrades, we remove the airbox on the 270s and 310s and fit our own induction kit. This comprises of a silicone hose and a much larger foam filter which includes as aluminium trumpet that helps airflow into the engine.
