S3 leather seat bolster has submilated

Late on my Anglesey trackday I started feeling smashed to pieces by the left hand bolster on my seat from the fast RHD 110mph curve. It's basically just a metal bar now. Anyone know if I can get it re-padded or if I can simply swap it for the passenger seat or if I just need to stop being a wuss and get a Tillet.

cheers!

I'd start by swapping driver & passenger seats.  Then, as above, Oxted offer a kit for refurbishment.

But, in all honesty, if track days are your thing, then a Tillet would be my recommendation as they hold you in place. S type seats don't hold you laterally and unless you are a tight fit widthwise, you will slide side to side on leather.

Stuff coming out vs stuff going in. Old stuff looks like quite dense rubber. Didn't replace the rest of the foam or the plastic backing cos it looked EFFORT vs just replacing the side pads. D2AAA4A1-7E48-4AB8-948A-712B75106CFF.thumb.jpeg.5107ec333e140cd32201415fb7c7b9f3.jpeg

70 quid feels like a bit of a raw deal.

I'm gonna buy some double sided tape and do the other side with my spare lagging.

To piggyback on the subject...

Does anyone know the make of the seats that came on the BDRs in the 80s to early 90s?

I have the black velour with head rests I bought as spares, so I don't know which car they came off of.

I have them in my 96 S3 now.

See them on this link:

Hi - I had the same problem - I wasn't aware of this Oxted option, so just went to a foam shop - cut the rough shape needed, used impact adhesive to glue it in place, left it for a day and then re-stretched the leather over.  It looks a proper job.

Regards

Rob.
